This painting is a very early work of mine created in soft pastel on umber pastel paper. The base colour enriched the entire painting and it was featured in `Pastel International` art magazine in 2001. The title can appear misleading, but is in relation to the subject being an `ordinary` bakery as opposed to an `important` civic building or palace. I love the way that this ordinary building is `transformed` by dazzling light. This reminds me of how the 'light' or 'hope' of the Gospel of Christ transforms ordinary lives, making them extraordinary!
